Passing The Day Away in Raleigh, NC

My hubby went to the monthly Fossil Club meeting at the Raleigh Museum of Natural Science today so I rode with him.  He wanted to go to the Outback for dinner when he finished his meeting.  I needed to go to Michael's since they have 30% off of your entire regular priced order so it was a win win situation.  Someone, and I won't call any names, ahmmmm, has gotten me hooked on cross stitching all over again so I went to purchase some more Aida fabrics while I could get it 30% off!  I cross stitched heavily back in the 80's and 90's.  My best friend Debbie and I would spend countless hours stitching away and just chatting.  If we weren't cross stitching, we were hand quilting.  I miss those days!

(Isn't this gorgeous!)

I am not interested in fossil collecting so I took along my knitting to keep me entertained.  His meeting lasted over 3 hours so I was able to get quite a bit completed.  I put my cell phone on speaker and called my sister.  She was crocheting today so we crafted together for over 2 hours!  I am so glad I have over 2,000 roll over minutes. lol

I have had this afghan on the needle for far too long so it will stay out by my chair and I will make a concentrated effort to have it finished by the end of winter.

I will leave you with the Raleigh skyline at night.  isn't it lovely!

So, what fun things did you do today?

  1. Hi Thearica,
Your afghan looks like it will be very warm , I don't think I've seen yarn like that. I'm not a knitter though. I'm a cross stitcher. Are you incorporating cross stitch into your crazy quilting?

  4. I love that textured yarn. I don't knit but I can crochet - but I prefer weaving and quilting. I was weaving yesterday.

  5. I do so miss knitting and crochet and cross stitch. But I am very, very grateful that I can do the crazy quilting. I did manage to knit myself an entralac (?) cowl and was working on a scarf but my wrists were swelling too badly to continue. I'll get it done eventually though. Yesterday I worked on putting together a quilt that my friend got at a garage sale. It was mostly done but she thought it was too complicated for her to do so she asked if I would finish it up for her. Then I went over to friends and watched 2 Start Trek movies. So all-in-all couldn't get much better - quilting and friends.

  8. My sister lives in Mebane, NC which I may have told you before but I've never been to downtown Raleigh unless you count the airport! I fly into RDU when I go visit. I am terrified of flying but I love my sister more than I fear flying so I take 1/2 of a Xanax and FLY!!! I took a whole tablet one time and while in the Charlotte airport waiting on my flight into RDU, on top of taking more Xanax than my body can handle, my sugar dropped! I was a Hot Mess! The helpers in the yellow jackets in the airport saw I was in distress and helped me get on a gator where they promptly shuttled me to my gate. The plane was calling for Final boarding!! For all practical purposes, I was drunk as a skunk! We have laughed about "Mama drunk in the Charlotte airport" for the last 5 yrs.
